...to everyone to who has visited and supported Miishkooki these past two years. Unfortunately, I have made the tough decision to close the gallery. I didn’t get the property tax exemption I was hoping for. As a non-profit, the steep yearly tax bill of $23,000 was just too much.
Looking back, it was a fantastic experience and I have no regrets. I want to thank everyone who helped with building the space, curating shows, Lauren Asta for her beautiful mural (which was the first mural out of ten in Skokie), and my wife Drew who supported me throughout this adventure. I’ve made many lifelong friends and connections and hope to have made a positive impact on the community.
Miishkooki may continue through pop-up shows in the future around Skokie.
Thanks again for supporting this out of place art space.
